Brown Turkey Fig
The fig is a large. Broad-leaved deciduous tree with many unusual features. It bears two crops a year, and its flowers are hidden on the inside of a pear-shaped, fleshy receptacle which becomes the fruit. Figs are tasty and very nutritious and are an important fruit crop of earlier civilisations in the Mediterranean region and Asia Minor. The fig needs a mild, warm climate and grows best in a sunny situation protected from frosts. They yield best in climates with a dry summer, as rain during the fruit ripening season can split the fruit and ferment it on the tree. Brown Turkey matures medium-late season with medium size fruit with brown skin and pink-brown pulp.
